Blogs in the Classroom

There are several ways that blogs can be used in the classroom. Students can create online journals, online yearbooks, and participate in online classroom discussions. One of the instructional strategies that will work is cooperative learning. Students can work in pairs and in groups. They will be able to interact with teaches, parents, and students. Constructivism can be use which allows the students to give opinions on topics and give feedback to classmates on their blogs. Behaviorism concentrates on exams, drill, and practice in the classroom. At the recreation center, the members use their blogs to discuss politics and have online debates.

  1. Am I just missing something or are you and Joy the only other members of our group that are active? I find your take on using blogs for group work interesting as I just posted a comment stating that I feel they wouldn't be useful for group work. However, I am stating that from my own experience (though I'm not a teacher). In what ways have you used blogs for group work in an effective manner? I'm interested to hear.

  2. Excuse me Phillip - you are missing me! I have written several comments on my own & other's blogs - as well as yours! It took me a while to get access to your blog...

Charlene - thanks for sharing your wiki edit & new wiki - both of which are particularly interesting to me as a Fish & Wildlife person who considered switching to Parks & Rec at one point!
